What does the system consist of?
The Ministry of Production through the Direction of Natural Resources has undertaken the task of identifying the native fauna of the province of La Pampa in an effort to control the poaching depredation attempting against the own natural resources of the local inhabitants. Among the objectives to achieve through this system, the following ones are worth mentioning:
- To know and control the fauna resources of the province.
- To avoid the introduction of wild animals in breeding places and game preserves.
- To control the sanitary conditions of the different species, whether in their wild state or in captivity.
- To avoid the poaching of the different wild species of the province.
- To avoid the illegal traffic of animals and/or hunting trophies.
What information is available for visitors?
If you are a
visiting
user you can search for a particular animal and see its information (commercial establishment it belongs to, age, sex, veterinary information, etc) as well as knowing the list of commercial establishments authorized by the Direction of Natural Resources.
If you are a
registered
user of the system, for instance a game preserve or a breeding ground, you can see the population of microchiped animals in your commercial establishment, together with the obtained data of those animals. You also can have access to the particular information of your commercial establishment and modify your contact details.
How does the system work?
Through the use of a microchip subcutaneously injected in the different animals, their individual identification is achieved. Each microchip has an only identification number (ID) which is obtained through an electronic reader. Once the reading is carried out, the ID number is introduced into a centralized management system which administers all the information concerning the animal. In the case of animals in game preserves, the ID is useful for the later identification of the trophy.
